ANNONCEMENT: 2010 Festival Postponed to 2011 LOS ANGELES - March 31, 2010 - Since its inception in 2006, the majority of Noor Iranian Film Festival's financing was made possible by its co-founder and director's personal funds, with some support from community leaders, corporate partners, sponsors, ticket sales and in-kind donations. This year, given the difficult economic climate, NFF has not been able to reach the fundraising levels necessary to present the Festival to the community, while maintaining the high standards set over the past four years. It is with great regret and disappointment that the directors, advisors and staff of the Noor Iranian Film Festival are forced to postpone this year's festival, originally scheduled for April 30 - May 3, 2010, until next year. The NFF staff and advisors considered several alternatives to postponing the Festival, such as announcing winners online, reducing the number of screenings or only holding an award ceremony. However, since NFF's chief mission remains to showcase the work of Iranian filmmakers, reducing or eliminating screenings is not a viable option. As a result, films submitted in 2010 will be added to the 2011 schedule. This will ensure that they receive a full, albeit delayed screening. Please note that this change of schedule will affect the Screenplay Competition portion of the festival, as well. "I am disappointed at having to postpone the 2010 Noor Iranian Film Festival, but believe strongly that doing so will help us remain true to our mission and that we will be able to provide a much improved Festival for the community in 2011," said Siamak Ghahremani, Director and co-Founder of the Noor Iranian Film Festival. "I wish to thank every NFF filmmaker, partner, volunteer, and supporter who worked with us in 2010. I look forward to 2011 with great hope and excitement." NFF is also looking forward to have the opportunity to honor the legend of cinema of Iran, Mr. Behrouz Vossoughi in 2011. A Special Note to filmmakers and screenplay writers: Officially selected films and scripts for 2010 will be announced this summer. Program Books Download previous program books:
